Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain English, what information Placit collects, why, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Who we are
Placit is a photo-to-post app for small businesses, based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. You can contact us about privacy at any time at hello@placit.ai.
What we collect now
While Placit is in pre-launch, we only collect what you give us when you join the waitlist: your email address and, if you choose to share them, your business name and business type.
What the app will collect
Once the app launches, we will also collect the photos you upload, the captions we write and any changes you make, and access tokens for the accounts you choose to connect. We never ask for or store your social media passwords. You sign in directly with each platform, and they give us a token that lets Placit act only within the permissions you grant.
What Placit accesses when you connect an account
Instagram and Facebook (via Meta). When you connect, Placit can access:
- your Instagram profile and Facebook Page details;
- your past posts and captions, to learn how you write;
- post and audience insights, such as when your followers are online, to choose the best time to post;
- permission to publish the posts you approve to your Instagram feed and Story and your Facebook Page.
TikTok. When you connect, Placit can access your TikTok profile and the captions and hashtags of your past videos, to learn how you write. Later, with your permission, Placit may publish posts you approve to TikTok.
Google Business Profile. When you connect, Placit can access your business listing, and permission to add photos you approve to that listing and to publish Updates to it.
How we use it
Placit only reads this data to write captions in your style and to pick the best times to post. We never sell it, we never use it for advertising, and we never post anything you haven't approved. We also use your contact details to run the service and to tell you about the beta and important changes.
Nothing posts till you say so
Placit only publishes to your connected accounts after you approve each individual post.
Platform rules we follow
Google user data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide the posting features you request. Placit's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it or transfer it to others except as needed to provide the service, comply with the law, or with your consent.
Data we receive from Instagram and Facebook is handled in line with Meta's Platform Terms and Developer Policies. We use it only to provide the features you request and do not sell it or use it for advertising.
Data we receive from TikTok is handled in line with TikTok's Developer Terms of Service. We use it only to provide the features you request and do not sell it or use it for advertising.
Third-party service providers
We use trusted providers to help run Placit, including services for website hosting, database storage, and AI caption generation. They only process your information on our behalf and to provide the service. Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia; where this happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected in line with the APPs.
Storage and security
Your information is stored with secure cloud providers. We use encryption in transit, access controls and other reasonable safeguards to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Waitlist details are not publicly readable.
How long we keep it
- Access tokens are deleted when you disconnect an account or close your Placit account.
- Learned style notes and post history are deleted when you ask us, or within 30 days of closing your account.
- Waitlist details are kept until the beta opens or until you ask us to remove them.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@placit.ai. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. Step-by-step instructions for disconnecting accounts and deleting your data are on our Data deletion page.
Cookies and analytics
We keep cookies to a minimum. Our website may use essential cookies and basic, privacy-friendly analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are useful. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How to make a complaint
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at hello@placit.ai and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Placit grows. We will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
